Frequently asked questions for existing security doors.

rustyhingeQ: HOW DO I REMOVE MY SLIDING SECURITY DOOR FOR REPAIRS?
A: By locating the screws at the top of the door that adjusts the top rollers and turning the screwdriver in an anti clockwise direction. Do not adjust the bottom rollers as this will alter the lock height. Alternatively, you can request a service booking HERE!

Q: IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MY LOCK/ BARREL IS SEIZED, WHAT CAN I DO?
A: You can try to rectify this by liberally spraying all parts with silicone spray (not WD40 or CRC as these attract dust and dirt) however if this does not work a callout from your installer will be necessary.

Q: THE BARREL IN MY DOOR IS LOOSE?
A: There is a screw that holds the barrel tight on the side of the door, this can occasionally come loose after time, tighten with Philips head screw driver

Q: CAN I HAVE STAINLESS STEEL MESH PUT INTO MY EXISTING FLY/ GRILLE DOOR?
A: Unfortunately not as the frame for Stainless Steel mesh is customised to insulate the Stainless Steel from the aluminium to prevent corrosion, which can occur if two dissimilar metals are in contact.

Q: CAN A PETWAY BE INSTALLED INTO ANY SECURITY DOOR?
A: Yes they can be, however if it is only a fly door additional framing to contain the petway is required. Petways purchased elsewhere may not be suitable.

Q: WHY WILL MY DOOR NOT CLOSE AS IT USED TO?
A: Possibly cleaning the striker plate and tongue can fix this, 90% of the time it is dirt or salt on the striker (silver piece on the frame) spray silicon spray into lock and striker. If it is closing too slowly or quickly maybe the door closer needs an adjustment or possibly the hinges may need adjusting. If it is a sliding door this maybe caused by worn rollers or the tracks may need cleaning.
